Royal Holloway School of Management

University of London

MBA in International Management - Full-time or Part-time

Accommodation

Royal Holloway's extensive range of student accommodation is located within a few minutes' walk of all the teaching and social facilities on campus. This is a major advantage over most other universities in the London area, while Royal Holloway students still have good access to the vitality of London life, just half an hour away by train. Royal Holloway's accommodation is also cheaper than central London.

Halls vary greatly in size, appearance, age and atmosphere. There are catered or self-catered halls, and you may opt for mixed or single-sex designated areas. As a resident in a catered hall, you are entitled to a discount of approximately 50% off the normal price of the majority of food items you purchase in all three Dining Halls (please note that meals are not included in the published accommodation rates.) This offers you the flexibility of being able to choose when and where you take your meals and how much you spend each week. All halls provide comfortable accommodation, good value for money and a friendly community in which to live.

You can come and visit halls of residence during Campus Tour Days

Allocation Process

All students who firmly accept a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at Royal Holloway by the UCAS deadline of 31 May are guaranteed a place in hall for their first year. Students admitted during Clearing are also allocated a place in hall, but this is not guaranteed. Many of Royal Holloway's final year students and postgraduates also choose to live in College accommodation.

Unmarried students whose homes are outside the European Union can live in halls of residence for the normal duration of their degrees - three years for most undergraduate programmes. It is not possible for the University to accommodate all students who bring their families. Married students should be certain of what arrangements are possible before they arrive in the UK.

If you accept a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at Royal Holloway you will receive an accommodation application form in June. Only an offer in writing from the Accommodation Office is confirmation that a room has been reserved for you in hall.

Halls of Residence

With one exception, all of Royal Holloway's student accommodation is in beautiful campus, providing a living environment which is friendly and relaxed on the one hand, dynamic and busy on the other. In many cases it is just a two minute walk from your hall to your academic department, the Student Union, shops or sporting facilities.

Royal Holloway residences include one of the most spectacular buildings in the UK, as well as many new halls which have a private shower and toilet for each room. Royal Holloway's range of student accommodation is outlined briefly below.

Private Sector Accommodation

Nearly all second year and many final year students live off campus in private sector accommodation, often sharing a house with a group of students or living in lodgings with a family. Most live in the neighbouring areas of Englefield Green, Egham or Virginia Water, or a couple of miles away in Staines. The costs of living out compare with other parts of South East England, and are certainly cheaper than London.

The College Accommodation Office provides lists of flats and lodgings available locally. Many students also pass on details on local housing to friends in the year below. Although the office is not able to inspect private sector properties and therefore cannot guarantee their condition, quality or safety, because of the type of area that surrounds the campus, most of the accommodation available is of a high standard, and better than typical student housing found in large cities. Students are strongly advised to take a copy of the Surrey County Council's Rented Accommodation Student Safety Screening Check List when viewing potential private accommodation.

Non-resident students are able to take advantage of a student bus service to help them get home after evening functions, while a daytime bus service runs between the College and Egham railway station.
