Assistance Available to Students
Principal's
Loan Fund
Available to all students,
including overseas, to assist in cash flow problems i.e. awaiting student
loan, funds from parents or money from abroad. Interest free loan which
has to be repaid on an agreed date within the academic year and probably
before the exams start.

149) to arrange an appointment to see Dr Richard Hancock, Dean of Students.
Student
Loan
Available to all home
undergraduate students under 55. Students should have contacted their
LEA prior to their arrival at RHUL to apply. Any problems contact Denise
Keable, Student Financial Adviser.
Hardship
Loan
Top up loan of up to
£500 for students who have a student loan out and started their HE after
Sept 1998. See Denise Keable,
for information. Repayable with their student loan when they graduate.

Funds (formerly Access grants)
Grants (non repayable)
given out to students suffering financial hardship. Forms available
from SU welfare office, Rebecca
Harrison (Founders West 153) or
Denise Keable (Founders West 172). Students under 25 need to take
out a Hardship loan to be eligible for a Hardship grant. Personal appointment
needed with Denise Keable,
Student Financial Adviser to assess financial situation.
SU
Welfare Loan
£50 short term cash loan
given to any student who leaves a post dated cheque.
DSA
Disabled Students Allowance
Available to home students
(Undergraduates and Postgraduates) with a disability, including dyslexia.
Students need to contact their LEA to claim but can contact the Educational
Support Office, Founders West 148 for further details.
Other financial assistance
in the form of benefits or grants may be available to students with
dependants or disabilities.

Financial
assistance is sometimes available through various scholarships or grant
schemes. Candidates must however contact, research and apply directly
to the Scholarship authorities.
